Our goal is to help revitalize the northside by constructing a small produce market with a greenhouse including microgreens to provide fresh produce and an event center with a Spanish newsroom to help extend our reach of news coverage. This construction will take place on the three-acre parcel of land located east of the Poplar viaduct.
A small neighborhood market with a greenhouse and microgreen farm. Aside from selling fresh produce, we plan to offer agriculture workshops, cooking classes and farm-to-table events.
Currently, our Spanish news coverage includes the printing and distribution of 500 Spanish newsletters every two weeks and recorded interviews with community members (with added subtitles in English/Spanish). We also post our news articles online at lmca308.org/la-voz
Our community center will be used for agriculture workshops, youth activities and will be available to the community for event bookings.
LMCA was approved a leasing contract with Union Pacific Railroad for this 2.95 acre lot. Lease begins November 1st, 2024
