Our story began in May, 2021 with the mother-daughter duo, Adi Fernandez and Eve Guillen, who took on the rewarding challenge of translating the local news and events happening in and around Lincoln County, as Las Mañanitas. For the first two years, this project was internet based, using social media, and online networking with local businesses and organizations. The purpose being to help bridge the gap between the two cultures, and provide the growing Hispanic population the same access to local and state-wide resources.
As our community undergoes diverse changes in development and culture, our team has also gone through changes of it’s own. In January ‘23, Las Mañanitas Community Advocates was founded and in March ‘23, we became a registered 501c3 focused on informing, educating, and providing opportunities for individuals and families to reach their highest potential.
Creating opportunities through empowerment and education.
To provide language access to individuals and community entities, inform Spanish community members of local news, events, and resources, cultivate art & creativity, empower at-risk youth and underserved populations with educational workshops, engaging classes, and access to financial support while they create pathways to success and self-sufficiency.
We believe everyone has the right to understand, be informed of, and participate in what’s happening around them, regardless of the language they speak.
We apply this belief by:
Launching a Spanish newsletter in Lincoln County that will not only cover local news and events, but also highlight stories of local Non-English speaking community members.
Provide translation and interpretation services to individuals, families, and local entities.
Teach Spanish classes open to the public at the community college.
To invest in our youth is to invest in the future of our community.
Our passionate team created a place for youth to feel understood, valued, and supported called YOLO (Youth Outreach, Learning & Overcoming).
Within our YOLO program we offer services that provide youth a sense of belonging, a hand to reach out to in times of need, and a network of people who will advocate for them, provide resources, educational workshops, internship opportunities, and help navigate positive change and growth.
Lack of access to basic services, education and employment opportunities all serve to perpetuate poverty.
We actively address these barriers by offering the following in both English & Spanish:
Money management and credit educational workshops.
Financial literacy and credit informative meetings
Mock interviews and access to professional clothing for individuals
