Community Queen & Princess Program

The Community Queen & Princess Program is a cherished tradition of the Viva North Platte Festival, celebrating the strength, leadership, and pride of young women in our community.

Each year, participants compete for the honor of being crowned Queen or Princess, serving as ambassadors for positive change and role models for future generations. This program empowers young women by fostering confidence, leadership skills, and community involvement.

The Queen and Princess take part in community events, and volunteer initiatives throughout the year, representing the values and traditions of our growing and diverse community.

Through this program, we aim to uplift young women, celebrate their achievements, and inspire them to make a positive impact on their communities.

GOALS = GEAR

The Threads Boutique gives youth in the foster care or probation system the chance to shop for new clothing and shoes in a way that feels empowering. Participants earn a stipend by reaching personal, school, family, or sobriety goals. Every outfit represents a milestone achieved—proof that when young people work hard toward becoming their best selves, they deserve to feel good and look good too.

yOUR FUTURE,
YOUR HUSTLE

YOLO helps high school dropouts get back on track by connecting them with local employers who are willing to invest in their future. We walk the journey with them by covering 50% of their wages during the first six months of employment, and support them in preparing for the GED exam, if they choose to pursue it

LEAD WITH PURPOSE

Through our leadership program, teens learn how laws are created by exploring real bills and understanding how the legislative process works. The program culminates in a trip to the Nebraska State Capitol in Lincoln, where participants meet with lawmakers and advocate for a bill of their choosing—turning knowledge into action.

SERVE & CELEBRATE

We believe that giving back should feel just as good as it does to receive. That’s why YOLO rewards teens who complete 8 hours of community service each month with a fun group event—like bowling, skating, or laser tag. It’s our way of saying thank you for helping build a stronger community and creating space for laughter, connection, and celebration.
